Our country, Myanmar; is a beautiful country. It is bigger than Japan in area but the population is less than Japan. The neighbouring countries are China, and Loas in the east and Bangladesh and Bay of Bengal in the west. It is bordered by Thailand to the south and India in the north. The biggest city of Myanmar is Yangon. Myanmar has various national races. It has eight big groups; Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Bama, Rakhine and Shan. Among them, it has 132 smaller groups. They have different languages and different traditional dresses. Most people wear their traditional dresses in special festivals. Usually, we wear clothes made from cotton, but in festivals, most people wear clothes made from silk. The official language is Myanmar. Myanmar has 7 states and 7 divisions. It has warm weather. The three seasons of Myanmar are the hot season, the rainy season and the cold season. The hot season is from March to May, the rainy season is from June to October and the cold season is from November to February. In the hot season, the central part of Myanmar is hotter than other parts. In the rainy season, the western part has the heaviest rain. And in the cold season, the northern part is the coldest in our country. Our country has many festivals. Among them, the most famous festival is the water festival, ?Thingyan?, in April. Water festival is celebrated over 3 days. The young people play the whole day in water, and the older people go to the monastery. During this festival, the weather is very hot but most people feel happy. After this festival, is the New Year?s Day of Myanmar. At New Year, women use a medicated root, ?thanaka? for their skin. When we use it on our skins, we feel cool and soft. Its smell is very fine. It is grown in the dry region in central Myanmar. North Myanmar has beautiful mountains and in the south are many beautiful islands such as ?pearl island?. Our country has many beautiful seashores along its coastal region. The sea beach, ?Ngapali?, is the most famous beach in Myanmar; it is situated in the western part. A town named ?Maymyo? or ?PyinOoLwin?, is a very beautiful place. European style houses can be seen. It is situated on a hill and the weather is nice. There is a beautiful village inside the big pond in the eastern part of Myanmar. In it, all buildings are built on water. It is called ?Inlay? or ?Floating village?. In that village, boats are rowed by leg - a very strange method for everyone. The ancient cities are in the middle of Myanmar. Myanmar traditional food is very delicious. Most people like to eat dessert after meals. The most famous dessert is ?Laphatthoat?. It is made of green tea leaf and eaten with many other ingredients. There are many interesting handicrafts in Myanmar. Many people come to visit every year. Everybody, if you have time, please come and visit our golden land, Myanmar.
